I think he's referring to the use of a "Julian" date. However, the "Julian" refers to Julius Ceaser. Last I heard he wasn't a Pope. Perhaps there's confusion with what succeeded the Julian calendar, the Gregorian, which was named after Pope Gregory XIII.
