Coso is young volcanic area and I've seen what looks loike "young" flows around Owen's Valley. It might be possible for a volcanic center to be related to, for example, a pull-apart (releasing stepover) in a strike-slip fault. But, I don't know enough about whether this is the case or not for volcanic vents around Owens Valley-Coso-Mammoth-Mono.
