Mexico 5.1 - Series of quakes

The magnitudes of the quakes just below the Mexican border increased from 4.3 to 5.1. Here's a couple of lay person questions for anyone who might answer:

1. Is this on the southern San Andreas?
2. Is there any possible relation of these quakes to the very large quakes in the Gulf of Mexico several weeks ago?
