Yes - that is very interesting - i wonder if they have done anything more with it since 1996. There are a few others using VHF signals to detect local quakes - One fellow in japan is a radio astronomer who thought his equipment was failing before the Kobe quake - I have his references at home. I've been looking into setting up some small radio astronomy setup and recording the signals to a computer or some sort of log and keep an eye on it. It sure takes a long, long time to collect enough data in the lab we call earth to be able to make any sense of it.
