Headed to Palm Springs tomorrow early. I did go to the Alhambra yesterday evening and it was very worth it: is beautiful (inside and nice gardens). I've tended to think that it would take at least several hundred years for the West Antarctic Ice sheet to melt or slide into the ocean or both (same difference to sea level), but there were at least a couple of people who think a collapse of that ice sheet is a real possibility. There is just one detail that I don't understand...maybe I'll ask that question here later. Today was a workshop on scientific drilling proposed or planned all around the margins of the continent: largely to study past climates.
OK, you will hear from me next about what is up with the Southern California Earthquake Center.
