However, Brian, it is exactly what you stated the government must not do ("It is NOT the place of the government to dictate what to do." and "The gov't has no business telling private industry what to do."), and therefore it is precisely what I took your statement to mean, and what I responded to. Perhaps you misspoke. Anyway, nowhere is it written that government cannot compete with private industry, or operate its own concerns for the common good, and in the matter of health insurance I am quite sure the government can offer a better product at a lower price than the business-operated "health insurance" firms do. After all, their huge (30%) profit margins are much greater than what the government's overhead is in Medicare and VA benefits, and the profits go up every time a claim is denied or an ill person is turned away. If I'm not correct, then why is private industry so afraid of the competition? Mike W.
