By the way - we could pay off the entire current debt in a very few years by simply reducing our incredibly bloated defense budget by 10%, and stop fighting needless foreign wars of aggression, or, better yet, return our defense budget to what it was during the cold war when, in theory anyway, we might have actually needed some portion of our hundreds of overseas bases, exotic death machines and nuclear megatonnage.

Subsequently, we would finally be able to spend money on our real needs without tax increases or deficits.

But that's crazy talk.
