This was kind of curious, the main shock is showing as strike-slip, but rather far east of the plate boundary, while the 5.9 aftershock is shown on the plate boundary. As for Canie's southern California quake following a Gulf of California quake; I have not been impressed for smaller Gulf of California quakes. We need Roger to look at the larger ones (if there have been enough of them). Could be quakes >M5.5 Gulf of California (could excluse southern Gulf of California?) plotted against southern California quakes. Canie can suggest limits for both areas.
