That seems simlar to Rick Sibson's papers on fault valve earthquakes etc. Fossil earthquakes are seen in gold-quartz veins in the Mother Lode of California and other similar places (Canada for example). Large amounts of fluids flow though the high-angle reverse faults and form these veins. The fluid pressure builds up between quakes, and then is released during quakes. Etc. The Mother lode veins that are now near the surface were 10 or 15 km below the surface 100 million years ago when the veins formed.
