Honduras Earthquake - Internet Bulletin Board CGI program

As most people are probably aware, there was a destructive earthquake in the Honduras area earlier today. It sounds like there might have been about a half dozen fatalities.

That earthquake demonstrates that we need to have an Internet Bulletin Board that has a structure etc. that makes is easy for researchers around the world to post forecasts and also reports discussing how well their own forecasting method did when a significant earthquake such as that one occurs. Efforts are slowly getting underway to create such a bulletin board. That is one of the reasons for making that decision to go with Perl for a programming language.

Regarding my own forecasting method and that earthquake:

Strong electromagnetic pulse signals (EM Signals) that I detected around May 6 and May 20 and 21, 2009 were probably pointing to the approach of that earthquake. I can’t say for certain as my computer program traces for the signals and the earthquake itself are reasonably good matches but not exact.

No strong signals were detected since May 21.

It is not unusual to see delays of some multiple of 7 days between the signals and the earthquake responsible for them. With earthquakes in some parts of the word like the Indonesia area the signals seem to continue right up until the time of the earthquake. But with a good percentage of the ones in Central and South America there are just a few signals. Then there might not be anything for a week or a month. Then the earthquake occurs.

My present forecasting procedures do quite well by themselves with some earthquakes. But with the Honduras one it would have been difficult to tell where the earthquake was going to occur if only my forecast data were used. It was out at sea and there might not have been any easily observed precursors inland. I don’t know if anyone spotted an Earthquake Cloud in that area before the earthquake.

Efforts are constantly underway to improve the data processing capabilities of the earthquake forecasting computer program being used with this forecasting method.

These are personal opinions.
