Moment magnitude is the most standard kind, as you suggest.

The global cmt, computed by Goran Ekstrom at Lamont, is probably the most consistent. It will only exist for M> about 5.5, and show up on Goran's web site.

Or one can pick a major network and use their official magnitude. It can change for a few days as they do more sophisticated analyses.
