Hi Penny,

I do seem to do better with hunches than any other method. I have tried 2D spacials and time frames---pattern analysis---and failed. I do think there is a stress regime that plays out across So Cal due to tectonic stresses, which are long term. I do watch the depths of quakes in the Anza Seismic gap for clues, but nithing really interesting yet.

The problem as I se it, is there is no way to recognize an algorithym for quakes based on tectonic stresses because the basement complex fault structures are unknown or under studied. They are very complex. We know there will be earthquakes because the paleo evidence is there. It's the when, not the where, that confounds all prediction methodologies. My gut hunch is that we are overdue on the San Jac and the San Andreas. Elsinore is an enigma.
