Any idea which kind of quake would create greater damage in Istanbul---As in a shallow oblique or a deeper strike slip (90 degree vertical dip) or is that known for sure? We have the same condition in Anza Gap, at least as I understand the San Jacinto fault. I'm not an engineer either, but just interested. Or I suppose this would all be contingent on magnitude of either scenario. My guess.
