From a new report on Chaiten volcano

"There is also a ’science postscript’ which contains the following observations on and questions arising from the Chaitén eruption, please note bullet points 5 and 6:

* rhyolite extrusion rates unusually high
* sulphur dioxide emissions unusually low
* ash deposits unusually fine grained
* magma hot (850°C) and ascended rapidly from depth (>6km?)
* tectonic connection to the Liquiñe-Ofqui Fault Zone (LOFZ) - is this a tectonically-pressured eruption?
* ongoing interpretation of current earthquakes"
