Chris, you mentioned the Elsinore fault as the area of today's quake. I thought it was interesting to look back at the USGS study (on the probabilities of big earthquakes in California in the next 30 years) that was released in April 2008 that states that: "Earthquake probabilities for many parts of the state are similar to those in previous studies, but the new probabilities calculated for the Elsinore and San Jacinto Faults in southern California are about half those previously determined."
By the way, today was a good initial test for the seismo. apparatus that was installed in the condo building that my son built in downtown L.A. I'll have to find out from him what the readings showed. Barbara
