HW would not want you to miss the eruptions at ocean spreading centers. I'll have to ask her how many/year. There are several tens of thousands of km of spreading center and spreading occurs on most of them with eruptions (maybe not so much the slow ones??) We could do the math if we guessed at length of segment under a single eruption and volumes of lava....
