I looked at the ExxonMobil 2008 annual report (is on-line and public to all) and their 2008 proxy statement. The first Shareholder proposal was to forbid future shareholder proposals(page 49 in link). This was by the same people mentioned in my post above: Free Enterprise Action Fund. ExxonMobil advised to vote against it while they were saying they agreed with it in part. But, ExxonMobil gave money to an organization where the proponent is a senior fellow (see above post). In other words, they are indirectly supporting the person who probably wrote the proposal that they advised to vote against. The Union of Concerned scientists article and my post of a week ago makes it seem real likely that the anti-science efforts are deliberate by ExxonMobil. It is much less clear whether ExxonMobil was deliberately behind what I expose in this post and the one above. But, I sure would not put it past them. Chris
