There are always scientists in any field who disagree with each other. Years ago, some scientists argued that massive vertical displacement could account for strike/slip observations. It is very well documented today (and Tom Dibblee was one of the guys who helped do it) that there has been considerable displacement using some excellent "piercing points" for reference.

There are doctors who don't believe in an Aids virus, PhDs who believe that the world is flat, and geologists who...uh, just don't agree.
