Yes, I agree in the need to preserve the past. I was never much interested in history in school, but the older I get, the more important it is for me to preserve personal history -- records, photos, memories of ancestors for the generations to come who never knew them -- genealogy.

I read once that the age of the digital camera is a double-edged sword. You can easily take more pictures, but so many will be erased -- lost forever.

Some of my father's songs were big hits and there are many recordings by many different artists. But some of these records were never popular -- I may have the last remaining recordings of these songs. I don't want them to be lost forever. I feel obligated to preserve his creative efforts.
