Thanks, Canie. That was a good review, though it was a rather generalized coverage of the subject. I guess what I meant was that, in a 420-page book, dealing almost exclusively with the Cascades volcanos, I expected the author would have delved a little more into the specifics of the highly variable eruptive styles and magmas, etc., of those particular volcanos(i.e. the relationship between the courses the magma took on the way up from its origins, the crustal materials encountered, the timespans involved, whether there was a relationship between the increasing depth of the subducting slab and the resulting magmas, seismicity related to the volcanos and the subduction, etc.). And the very interesting subduction zone, itself. The book is probably wholly sufficient for laypersons interested in volcanos specifically, and also anyone who lives in the vicinity of the Cascades volcanos. Mike W.
