"the guy did not like compact fluorescents"

I was aware of the mercury in fluorescent lights quite a long time ago. As such, I was saving my tubes for that annual city toxic waste trash day at the local mall. I gathered up all my old tubes and brought them down thinking I was being conscientious about the environment, only to see the trash guy throw them in with the general trash, smashing them all to bits.

This was in the mid 90's.
