I didn't know this gentleman,sorry. There was some amazing break through work done in the 70s and 80s on submarine fans,turbidite flows, etc. and he was probably one of the folks doing this.

We have been lucky to have had such great work in our lifetimes--I mean, I remember when Plate Tectonics wasn't...and everybody used miogeosynclines and eugeosynclines as models for the sea floor...I still see those words around.

One thing that I HATE about getting old is knowing that so much more will be learned in the future (if we don't destroy ourselves with our own stupidity first!)

Sorry---pessimistic today. I'm tired of SNOW. We've had about 7 feet total, four feet in the last two days, and doing anything around here is getting to be difficult and downright dangerous. More expected tomorrow.
