fake rocks |
We went to a place to choose paving stones and they had all kinds of manufactured fake stone as well as some real stone. I kind of cheated and figure out a bunch of this was fake because of the name of the product. But, I got fooled by a couple of pieces that very much looked like fault surfaces with slickensides on them. You could even get the sense of slip. HW figured they made the texture by dragging something over the material, but the stone dude there said everything was cast in molds. I have my doubts...it really looked like fault surfaces, so I like HW's explanation. I don't get in the field much anymore, but I've measured slip surfaces on about 1000 faults in California (mostly little faults, but a few map-scale faults). I'm going to try skating on deep water tomorrow...I'll try and not drown my fool self. Follow Ups: ● Re: fake rocks...PS - heartland chris 20:32:11 - 1/23/2008 (73179) (0) |
