You'd be surprised at how different sectors of academia think.

I've know a lot of geologists who were raving gun waving conservatives. They didn't much mind that some of the conservative politicians didn't believe that the world was older than 6000 years...as long as they were conservatives. (Which is funny, because conservatives don't conserve anything.)

I found a great deal of difference of opinion in both Universities I attended. A TRUE academic and scientist would teach students to think for themselves, and give them the tools to do it. Obviously, they're failing!
