My daughter has come up from UC Santa Cruz, so after walking down and looking at posters about 3 hours Friday morning, I went to the zoo with her, and some of her new friends met us there. I would not have gone to the seismology talks but probably did miss some paleo-climate and/or tectonics. After 4 days of being at AGU all day, and IODP (international ocean drilling program..development of a site in Ross Sea) small meetings Thurs and Friday at 6 PM and all day Saturday 15th, I figured I better go to the zoo. The wart hogs were "tres cool" as always...the male was drooling profusely over the female and she was NOT interested. The Rhino was playing soccer with a 1 m ball for a half hour that we watched (really) and one of the chimps was trying inter-specied communication with a peacock (really). You have the zoo pretty much to yourself on a weekday AGU week, and it is really a nice setting...and right at the Pacific beach.
I have to post more of the science but will put that off until I get caught up with some stuff.
Chris
