Hi Cathryn, This was an article in the San Jose Mercury News. It was written by Julie Lyons and was launched on 12/11/2007. You might be able to access this by going to Mercurynews.com. In brief, it states that geologists now believe the Hayward and Calaveras faults connect, about 4 miles deep. I think this raises the possibility that if one fault fails, the other may go with it. Obviously, this would have catasrophic consequences for the bay area. With the Rogers Creek to the north, it is just a matter of time until the bay area gets popped hard. Sad to say, I really don't believe this state is prepared for it...Yucks Glen
