Jane..heartland wife is also at AGU, and heartland daughter is at UC Santa Cruz and will join us in San Francisco in a couple of days. Columbia was just north of the heavy precipitation....a heavy batch just passed through but it is just at freezing. It looks like Kansas has been getting it worse the last few hours. So, there is ice in Columbia, but not loss of power there yet.

As for AGU, I went to a few talks today and looked at some posters...but did not see much of interest here...maybe a poster on faults in Salton Sea. AGU really has gotten big...while the facilities are good, I liked the meeting better when it was 1/3 this size.
