Glen, I've been in a large California hardrock gold mine a number of times. The gold in quartz was deposited back in, I think the Cretaceous (before 65 million)...and it occurred at the depths of earthquakes, and according to structural geologist Rick Sibson, it was deposited during fluid flow during earthquakes...what is now in the upper 1 km of mine tunnels was at 10 km depth back then.....so, can learn about earthquakes by working in mines...
