Our alarm will occasionally go off, but I have yet to feel an aftershock, although one of my daughters did. She is 11 and decided to make banana bread late this afternoon. She put too much baking powder in, and it exploded, for lack of a better word, all down the sides of the glass pan, the rack, and down to the burners to the bottom of the oven. The burning smell was horrible, and when I tasted a piece from the drippings, I knew exactly what she had done. Cleanup wasn't too bad. Everything that had crusted on the racks and burners came off easily enough. I always line my oven with heavy duty aluminum foil, for just such emergencies. Just pulled out the old foil, and inserted some new. Then I showed her how to turn one half-cooked batch into two batches (minus any baking powder), and voila, we have banana bread and a happy kid. Yum. (The banana bread was pretty good, too.) Cathryn
