I'll get editing from co-authors. It is true that people working on a project get too close to the project and lose sight of what is of general interest to earth scientists elsewhere in the country and elsewhere in the world. I think I have a reasonably good feel for that problem, although it is still difficult. Then, there are article written for the public. I don't need to do that. About my only writing besides scientific articles and abstract and proposals is what I write on this page. Sometimes I am careful and proofread and sometimes not.
