Quake forecasting note to Roger and all

Hi Roger and all,

The forecasting research approach I have been using for several years now (sun and moon gravity and tide effects etc. and electromagnetic signals) is probably one of the most productive. My own data show that. And data I have been sent by other researchers around the world also show that this is a highly productive approach.

The earthquake warning signals I detected on July 17, 2007 and discussed in the report that I circulated to researchers around the world on July 19 look like they were in fact pointing clearly to the approach of that devastating August 18 earthquake in Peru. The one month time delay is a good indicator of that. Unfortunately I have not had time to update my forecasting Web page since last May.

Recent warning signals indicate that we should probably be watching for some significant seismic activity. But once again, there has not been any time to evaluate the data. So I cannot propose exactly when or where it would occur and have not yet circulated a warning.

As you know, the research that I have been focusing on lately has to do with trying to get as much of the needed data generation capability merged into a single computer program. And if my Perl program could generate charts and also standalone .exe versions of itself I would be able to circulate copies of the program to other researchers.

Alas, you have been correct with your opinion that Perl can be quite difficult to work with. And I am almost at the point of abandoning the effort to have it generate charts and .exe programs. I am going to try going a little further with the effort before giving up on Perl.

A few questions:

What does TrueBasic cost?
Where do we get copies? Are they available in any stores?
Can it send data to Windows as if they were typed on the keyboard? Perl is at least able to do that.

If I call it quits on expanding my Perl program I will probably try to see what TrueBasic’s capabilities are.

Its too bad Perl is so tough to use. My research might otherwise be much further along.

These are my personal opinions.
