Hi Roger & Don,

In life from the early stages we are actually taught to think negatively about almost everything. It carries over into adulthood and creates a lot of less than positive results, much disappointment and duress.

I like the "can do" approach myself. A classic example is when the ruskies had sputnik out there in space and Kennedy said, if the ruskies have it, then we have a problem. So get to work, build the darn thing and let's get a man on the Moon. So we did. Took awhile to let a woman go, but that's another issue.

In this era we have Senator Harrison S c h m i t t who suggested we have a prototype earthquake prediction experiment. We got it and its called Parkfield. He has a real can do attitude as well. He was a geologist, became a scientist, an astronaut and a Senator before retiring. He's achieved more in a lifetime than almost anyone.

So now the money comes in, the experiment is in action, but in the majority it is said that it cannot be done. Maybe we all should say, "it maybe not be able to be done that way, but there might be another way."

For the life of me I cannot understand why it has to costs millions of dollars when it can be done as a totally volunteer effort. Put the best that will volunteer together and the support they need from the amateurs who wish to volunteer to help and I think the magic that makes positive things happen, just might happen. Its called success.

We have to learn to think backwards. A long time ago, I read somewhere that if you thought badly about something or someone, to immediately say three times 3 positive remarks. You know what? Its an interesting exercise because in time you stop finding fault with everyone and everything.

Now, those who think they have one spare hour an evening to work on this effort raise your hands. Who wants to be team captain? Its called volunteerism and I know it well, I've spent years doing it and saw nothing but positive results.

Petra
