Re: For deep thinkers only

No further comments on the Bush thing, but I stand by every word. My 3 college degrees obviously don't put me in Dubya's circle of admirers and deep thinkers.

I think that we need to define exactly what kind of question was asked here. There are certainly enough ideas about environmental disaster to go around. Local? Global? Short term? Long term? A flea bite on the right person might set of a global disaster---we don't know. We CAN guess.

Katrina and later Rita demonstrated all of the issues in environmental disasters. The area was ridiculously planned and populated, there were no sensible emergency plans in place, and for YEARS people have been warning the Army Corps of Engineers, local petro companies and politicians regarding the problems that we were creating in the Gulf Coast. The recent issue of "Time" magazine is pretty right-on regarding this.

Being led by stupid and greedy people is the WORST environmental disaster that can, and has happened. A fearful, desperate, uninformed and uneducated population (globally or otherwise) goes along with that.
