Yes, but that doesn't happen. There are always earthquakes somewhere and if you notice that a certain symptom seems to correlate with a certain quake location it's very easy to convince yourself.

You know, something like "I had this pain in my left wrist and when I tossed a coin it came up heads." After that happens a few times you may well believe it's true even if it only comes out right half the time.
