I agree we should not make this place too hostile to amateur scientists or even those who do not know much about science but are interested in it. And, we need more people posting. I guess what bothers me sometimes is when people claim things as "facts" when they are not. Or, people who ignore plate tectonics. I also find earthquake predictions when there is no information on the method not interesting. On the other hand, the most interesting prediction here was by, I think, "Tim", who only posted for a little while and then predicted a northern California earthquake of M6.2 or something like that for 2 AM to occur on the same day that Parkfield 6.0 occured about 7 hours late (Petra got the location and time interval on that one with time interval a couple of days). Tim said it was purely phychic and seemed freaked out by this....he stopped posting a week or so later. So, can't do statistics on that prediction record!
