off topic-Kansas flood update

Update. Highlights. On U.S. 400 at the Neosho River, bridge held, but 7000 yds. of dirt work to be done. It was scary to drive it Th. with water on either side for almost a mile. FEMA is going to relook at where the flood plains are located. Erie, KS medical clinic tried to get flood ins. when they built, but couldn't, they were not in the flood plain. They had 20 in. in the clinic. UPRR 2-3 miles of track hanging in mid air as the road bed washed out from 3-8 feet under the track. Cattle gone washed down rivers. Cattlemen rounding up any live ones working to find owners. Pasture is ruined due to mud. Hay bales needed to feed cattle floated away too. It will take years for some of these communities to recover and for some of the smaller ones they will cease to exist. Themes: no ins., it was so much higher than we have had in years, it came up so fast this time. On the other hand everyone keeps saying no one died, we'll take one day at a time and keep going.
