I did not know that Cd---Au connections oxidized that fast. It may be a matter of protecting the connection. Electron shell configuration is very close between these two metalics, with Au being the best conductor, and Cd in the next period. *(2 -e configuration) High end, power rich energy systems went to Au -- Au connections protected by silicone paste as an insulator. People don't believe me, but a single byte of data heats the interface at the connection. Keep the oxygen out. Unless you want AuO2---Gold oxide. Oxides are excellent insulators. We want O2 insulation on the outside, not IN a connection.
