Hi again Roger,

I don’t know how Perl and TrueBasic compare in speed. I understand that Perl is supposed to be pretty fast. And it looks like it is. But, speed is not the main consideration here. It is simply that it becomes quite difficult to get a lot done when you are trying to work with two different languages.

I myself am not a big fan of Perl. It is quite difficult for me to use. But it is a free download and is highly supported. And that could be important to people in the scientific community around the world. It would not be a problem for me. But many other people might not want to have to purchase a copy of TrueBasic or some other language they had to buy. With Perl they can get the basic software for free, making it far more attractive.

I need to get back to work on some other matters now. So we will have to discuss this further in the future. But I can add the following.

If you really want to accomplish something in the field of earthquake forecasting then I believe that this might represent an open door for you. My program does work. And it has almost unlimited potential for improvement. So it is an opportunity here for really rapid progress.

I will give some additional thought to the possibility of having Perl call TrueBasic chart generation routines that you might develop. But once again, I am sure that you can understand how there can be problems with working with multiple languages.

Remember also, quakes don’t occur where I live. I believe that they do where you live. With humor intended I will propose that by helping with this you might be taking out an insurance policy of sorts for your own future!
