It rattled the windows here in Desert Hot Springs. If the wind had been howling like it was Thursday night I probrably would not have noticed it.

Now, my mother in law, who lives in Sun City Palm Desert (generally due south of the quake) felt it very strongly.

I guess the energy was directed more towards the coast and along the mountain ranges towards Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley. Desert Hot Springs shows an intensity II overall.

I was surprised that I didn't feel it more strongly here.

The area that the quake hit is between the San Andreas and the Blue Cut faults and it tends to pop off a magnitude 3 or 4 quake every few months. It's been a bit too quiet lately until last night.
