more quakes in winter in Himalaya

This sort of follows this thread...there is a little summary in EOS about a Geophysical Research Letters article (doi:10:1029/2006GL029192, 2007). This states that there are 37% more earthquakes in winter than summer between 1995 and 2000, in the Himalayas. The speculative reasons they gave for this did not sound too likely to me. But, I did not read the article. There was a 2.6 an 2.7 in SE Missouri last week, west of the New Madrid zone (not in a seismic zone). This was followed a day or 2 later by a 3.0 in Arkansas. Columbia Missouri is also a nice place to live, especially with the perfect spring weather of the last 2 weeks. Better get away from the computer this afternoon and go for a walk....Chris
