I found this link about the worst tornados in history. Looks like the biggest one originated in Missouri and crossed parts of Indiana and Illinois. I did meet a guy in St. Louis a number of years ago who said there is a difference between a "twister" and a "tornado". He said in St. Louis a twister is like the one on the "Wizard of Oz", Dorothy, Toto thing. He said a tornado hits the ground big time and travels in a straight line. I hear the one in Greensburg KS was two miles wide. Sheesh...That's awful to even think about.
