Better find the cause of the reset to zero, or re-write the code to determine the highest message number and start after that.
Easier said than done.. I'm open to suggestions... We have been getting hit with spam messages trying to post - I'm not sure if multiple hits to the board by the spammers have anything to do with it.. The code involved hasn't changed in years. It's only been since coming to bluehost server that there's been a problem.. and the same goes for the spammers.. I know how many hits we're getting because it emails me every time a message doesn't make it thru the name - password check.. I've even changed the filename that contains the number in case there are hackers involved.. And the reason for the skipped numbers is a bit of code that I have in there to kind of work around the issue - if it finds a 0 number, it jumps it - so the number increments with every spammer, as well as if it does hit zero.. I was considering one of those crazy visual number verification things being required to post.. half the time I can't even read them myself though.. and I don't know how difficult it would be to implement.. as well as it being a pain...
