Thanks for your thoughful response. From outward appearances, your counter proposal appears adequate but I'd need to think about it some more.

Basically, what I am trying to accomplish is the determination of whether somebody is onto something or not. What the effects of the quake are on a particular location I'm not too much concerned about right now. I believe that after somehow determining whether or not somebody is on to something, the finer points of where, when, and how big can be refined by far greater minds then we have (or should I say - I have).
