Hi Don and Petra - I'm just attempting to relax a bit - Last weekend we went out on another field trip and made a first stop in Boron at the Borax Mine - they welcomed us with open arms and we helped ourselves to much Kernite crystals and some Ulesite.

Then off to Mitchell Caverns area (off Hwy 40 west of Needles in Providence Mountains) where we camped at Hole in the Wall campground - We toured Mitchell caverns (limestone carved out by water with all sorts of cave formations) and we hiked the Hole in the Wall trail - about 9 miles thru the mountains to look at much granites, some volcanic breccia, lots of alluvial fans and mesas. Lets not talk about the winds and rain and hail and snow - that just didn't help at all.

Then Sunday we visited some of the cinder cones in the Cima volcano area and hiked another 6 mile trek to an area where Mantle rock had come to the surface and collected Olivine - Oh - also visited (and bumped my head) lava tubes that are in the area. All in all a very physically taxing trip (as my body is telling me) and a fun one as well.

In another couple of weeks we're headed off to Clark Mountains for some mapping..
