Hi Canie,

According to a close friend who has ties inside the public utility, when deregulation of power companies came about, the big one sold off many of their power plants.

When more energy was needed in our state from these companies, they refused to sell power back to the "big one" because they were getting more money for selling power to other states. You know, its their right to chose who they sell it to.

So now the governor has to step in and try to strike a bargain with those smaller companies to sell it back to the "big one" so we can have a lower rate. The only problem is that they've supposedly lost so much money, we citizens are now going to have to financially support them in a larger way for years to come.

Reminds me a lot of when they had us on water rationing and it cost more for water when we used less than when we used more. Turns out, there always was enough water. Ummm.

Two years from now we can assess the current situation with more information.
