Re: The Next Big Quake |
Hi Don, I couldn't agree with you more. I just had a flashback to a memory you and Petra might find interesting. Back in either May 1990 or May 1991, (+ or minus a few months maybe) I remember the San Francisco Chronicle doing a big article on the Roger's Creek Fault. At the time the southern portion of the fault was locked and this concerned scientists a great deal. Since you and Petra are the King and Queen of attaining info, and in case you don't know about this article, you might enjoy looking for it in the archives to see what was said about it back then. Kinda funny that you and Petra are analyzing this exact issue 11 years later. Something is up. You and Petra present your info in such a professional matter, have you ever had the chance to sit down w/ a siesmologist at USGS or Berkeley and explain your Roger's Creek theory? I'd be curious to know if they totally agree or not(I bet anything they are thinking the same thing, but not sharing!). You and Petra should think about writing a paper...or thesis of some sort about the Roger's Creek fault and site everything you've ever posted here, along w/ her study area. Make sure you send it to USGS, and it is documented somehow, it would then be very interesting when the quake hits to look at your paper. Even though you wouldn't have predicted an exact date or time, such a paper would represent the closests we've had to any documented warning signs for a major quake on a specific fault in a specific area. Just a thought. Todd Follow Ups: ● Re: The Next Big Quake - Rodgers Creek - Petra Challus Don Eck 18:18:18 - 4/5/2001 (6599) (0) |
