Earthquake Near Stockton

Hi All. Just thought you might be curious. The 2.1Md quake located 4 miles WNW of Stockton is on the Stockton Fault. This fault is listed as inactive at present time and hasn’t been active for thousands of years.

At this time I haven’t be able to find any history for this fault. It is a east/west trending fault.

For a fault that hasn’t been active for thousands of years it sure is funny that a quake would occur there. The next closest fault is the Great Valley Fault, which is active. I followed the trace of the Great Valley Fault and it appears to be to far away to be the source.

The epicenters of the quakes are accurate to within 2 miles and not knowing how accurate the faults lines are the Great Valley Fault could be the source.

Just thought you would like to know. Take Care…Don in creepy town.
