It would be really nice if I could use a little hobby money to grab a couple micro embeds from Taiwan via my brother...

AMD Geode Processor
256M RAM
40+ Gig Laptop Hard Drive
USB and Ethernet ports only.
Linux CentOS 4.4 Final

They are very small...but low power - good for retired folks =8-).

Have one at my place - one elsewhere like Roger's place - rsync nightly over DSL just the changes.

Upload Only:

source code - machine
source code - application/scripting
results publications (text)
data files used in the above results text

In other words - not for photos, graphics, multimedia, etc. All of that stuff can be regenerated if really needed. Code whether it be C++ or PHP requires alot of work though - better to back it up and grab latter than start all over. For those who don't understand the coding effort - I'm sure Roger could tell lotsa stories about what it can be like.

Presentation:

Via Apache Web Server all the above.

It just concerns me that folks put a lot of effort into something only to see all or part of it disappear into the home IT or Internet "black hole."

=8-)
