I am working on the field of induced seismicity with very sensitive apparatus. I saw many times the electical pulses in the origin time of seismic events. Prof Skakun from VNIMI Leningrad based his apparatus on the high frequency el-mag waves. I tested this apparatus in the coal mines and it opperated well. Every seismic event was accompaned by such high frequency el-mag pulses. I suppose, that in the case of big EQ, the el-mag. field could be so high that the lightning colud be seen. The simmilar apparatus is now used for testing of active/passive landslides.
