At the risk of trailing off topic . . . Doing something or not doing something is a problematic issue. Maybe I'm having my own little existential crisis with it at the moment. In the eight years that I've practiced law, I put in literally hundreds of hours of pro bono work leveling the lance at perceived injustice. Ultimately, it left me friendless, penniless and with a wife who didn't want to see me for a month. After a lot of thinking on the matter, the answer about "saving the world" is clear: The world doesn't want to be saved - or it wants to be saved on its own terms. Unfortunately, the dependents of those attitudes (i.e., helpless children) have no choice but to follow in suit. If there's an organized demonstration, go for it. Don't get beaten up or arrested. If otherwise, you're to be commended for being conscious of the situation. The Nazis have always marched and they will always march, trying to get a rise out of everyone. (Hey, what if there was a march and no one showed up?) Tony P.S. Qualification on CalTech comment . . . CalTech is a wonderful place. If I had it to do over again, I would have followed a scientific line of work. I didn't mean to cast the place in any derogatory light.
